NEWS UPDATE: 2023: APC expecting harvest of new members ahead of election – Gov. Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi says the All Progressives Congress (APC) is expecting a harvest of new members across the country ahead of the 2023 poll.

Umahi said this in Abakaliki when he inaugurated the newly-elected local authorities chairmen of APC in the province.

He charged them to scout for new members for the political party.

Umahi, represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe, urged them to be disciples of the political party in their various councils.

“You should see individuals who are still undecided on joining the political party and convince them that the APC is the moving political prepare in the province.

“You should also approach those who are asham to openly declare for the political party from the opposition and withdraw all veil of shame from them,” he said.

He advised the chairmen to consider their election as a phone to duty and not for personal aggrandisement or egoistic reasons.

“This inauguration affirms the political party’s trust in you and when you deliver on the mandate, rewards and awards will follow.

“You should stoutly defend the authorities as it will be a sin to be in the midst of critics and not defend the authorities,” he said.

Umahi famous that the APC had get a household proper name in Ebonyi because of his defection to the political party in 2020.

“The defection instantly changed the political party’s fortunes in the province and the southeast and had continued to cause ripples within the opposition.

“The province has been improving since and then as evidenced by its recent moment place in prudent direction rating by the budget business office of the federation,” he said.
