A 20-year-old man, Tope Oluwatofunmi has been remanded at Ilesa Correctional Centre over an alleged rape.
The accused individual who was arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Tribunal allegedly committed the offence on August 18, 2021, at house 7, Abidogun Street, Ota-Efun in Osogbo.
The prosecutor, Inspector Temitope Fatoba, told the tribunal that the accused individual forcefully and unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a immature missy, Feranmi Aroyehan.
The offence committed was opposite to Subdivision 357 and punishable under Subdivision 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun Province, Nigeria, 2002.
The accused individual, notwithstanding, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of rape.
The defence counsel, Oladipupo Tunbosun, prayed the tribunal to grant the accused individual bail in a most liberal term on the ground that he had dependable sureties.
Notwithstanding, the prosecutor opposed the bail application on the ground that the victim could leap bail whether granted.
In his ruling, Justice of the Peace Olusegun Ayilara ordered that the accused individual be remanded in custody patch his counsel furnishes the tribunal with a formal bail application.
The instance was adjourned till Oct 22 for hearing.
