A Nigerian Disc Jockey, Adebiyi Fuad popularly known as DJ Natty Yo has revealed how he turned his father’s old-school stereo amplifier into learning equipment when has no financial muscle to buy the original one.
Natty, while noting that he had a rough startup experience, added that his father’s amplifier and small speakers were equipment he used at parties in his early days as a DJ.
He, however, lamented that DJs are underrated in Nigeria’s entertainment industry despite their contributions to its growth.
The final year student of the National Open University of Nigeria said he learnt many of the DJ skills by watching YouTube videos and engaging in personal development.
He said, “Dj Spinal, Dj Khalid and also Dj Maphorisa in South Africa are my role models.
“I got inspired by watching top DJs performing at a concert that covers 10,000 – 20,000 guest capacity. The crowd turn up inspires me a lot. So, I said to myself I would be here someday doing the same DJ and here we are.
He added that he is committed to changing lives positively through music.
