A large number of children, youth and adults that are not attending schools or universities because of COVID-19 is soaring. Governments all around the world have closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the global pandemic
According to UNESCO monitoring, over 100 countries have implemented nationwide closures, impacting over half of world’s student population. Several other countries have implemented localized school closures and, should these closures become nationwide, millions of additional learners will experience education disruption.
UNESCO is providing immediate support to countries as they work to minimize the educational disruption and facilitate the continuity of learning, especially for the most vulnerable.
As the world is fighting against the COVID-19 outbreak, students around the world have been impacted by school closings and disruption.
In a situation like this it is normal to feel sad, worried, confused, scared or angry. Especially when academic attainment plans is thwarted due to the wide fight of the virus at such a point in time.
I can certainly agree with many that have said studying from home is the best way to curtail the epidemic and can go a long way to see the need for a Proficient power of technology in place.
Looking at what Xiaoyu (A student from China) Said
Xiaoyu starts the day at 8 AM in Beijing. She logs in to an online platform launched by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. She’s one of the hundreds of millions who is learning from home using her digital device and an internet connection.
“Compared with normal schooling, online learning is less effective to me. At school, I can approach teachers at any time if I have questions, and I can also discuss with my classmates. I miss my friends, staying at home for such a long time is so boring.
When I first learned the news about the postponing of spring semester, I was happy about the extended holiday. But now I just want to go back to school.”
One can certainly agree that the issue is really affecting student learning network and causing alot of panic within the educational system of many countries. Like the country I reside in “NIGERIA” is cause a total shut of school activities and programme, but this article is not to bore you with a lot of that but let go straight to see a simple ways we can prevent/control this virus in schools.
